The Department of Arts and Culture will host an induction meeting for the appointed Task Team on Local Content and Music. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, 10 July 2013 at Emoyeni Conference Centre in Parktown, Johannesburg.
The Task Team was appointed by Minister Mashatile after consulting with the sector through various platforms and from that received numerous grievances and challenges facing the development of the sector.

The Deputy - Minister of Arts and Culture, Dr Joe Phaahla will speak at a meeting of Committee of Ministers for arts and culture in the SADC region. The meeting hosted by the Minister of Culture in Mozambique, Mr.Joao Artur, will take place on Friday, 05 July 2013 in Maputo, Mozambique. The aim of the meeting is to appraise the current role of arts and culture in the process of integration and sustainable development in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the significance of the cultural industries contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The celebrations will take place under theme “Gauteng through the Eyes and the Minds of young Filmmakers” on Wednesday, 26 June 2013 at Auckland, Johannesburg. The purpose of this occasion is to celebrate the achievement and success of the Big Fish School of Digital Filmmaking.

Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Paul Mashatile will meet with Madame Alicia Alonso. The meeting will take place on Sunday, 23 June 2013 in Johannesburg.

Alicia Alonso achieved international fame as one of the finest ballerinas of the 20th century. In 1948 she founded the company that was to become the National Ballet of Cuba. Now in her nineties, Madame Alonso continues to be the NBC’s director and guiding light.

The President will be accompanied by Minister of Arts and Culture Paul Mashatile, Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane and National Youth Development Agency Executive Chairperson Yershen Pillay.

Daniel Canodoise "Can" Themba was a renowned South African short-story writer, a journalist and an editor at Drum Magazine. The occasion will take place on Friday, 21 June 2013 at the State Theatre, Pretoria.

Arts and Culture Minister, Paul Mashatile with his counterpart Minister Gakosso of the Republic of Congo will launch the 9th Edition of the Festival for Pan - African Music (FESPAM). The event will take place on Saturday, 08 June 2013 at Soweto Theatre, Johannesburg.

The Department of Arts and Culture will use the opportunity to also announce South Africa’s participation in the FESPAM, which will be held in the Republic of Congo from 13 -21 July 2013. '
