The Department of Arts and Culture, Ko Pitseng Productions and Victory Theatre proudly present Azikhwelwa a musical production based on the 1950’s Alexandra Bus Boycott. The musical focuses on how residents participated and were affected by the boycott.  It captures dialogues and debates between political figures from varying organizations, jazz lovers, journalists and the soft sides of human beings caught in the milieu of poverty, hope and courage.

Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Paul Mashatile invites the media to join him at a special event to congratulate Hugh Masekela, Lira and MiCasa on their recent achievements.

Multi-Award winner Lira and House music phenomenon, MiCasa have been invited to perform for US President Barrack Obama, at the prestigious 2013 Ambassadors Inaugural Ball, which follows the American leader’s inauguration.

President Jacob Zuma will tomorrow, 12 December 2012, meet with musicians in Pretoria for government to report back on issues they raised in 2009.

The meeting is a follow up to the Presidential engagement with musicians and actors on 17 November 2009, where concerns and challenges were raised. Areas of concern raised at that meeting included copyright, piracy, airtime on radio and television, social welfare issues and taxation.

The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) invites members of the media to the opening of the 2nd UNiTE to End Violence Against Women Film Festival and Community Activism Workshopon Thursday the 6th of December 2012 in Newtown, Johannesburg. The 2012 film program will run on 6-8 December in Gauteng and 14-16 December in the Free State Provinces.
