The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Mme Rejoice Mabudafhasi will hand over 400 school desks to Litshovhu Secondary School on Friday 24 October 2014, in Madombidzha village, Makhado Local Municipality. The Limpopo MEC for Education, Mme Thembi Nwendamutswu, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Mme Nandi Ndalane, Vhembe District Mayor, Cllr Tshitereke Matibe and Mayor of Makhado Local Municipality, Cllr Mutavhatsindi, will join the Deputy Minister during the handing over ceremony.

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Mme Rejoice Mabudafhasi will join MEC of Sport, Arts and Culture Mme Nandi Ndalane during the official hand-over of the multi-million library to the Shiluvane community in Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality.

The Department of Arts and Culture leads government’s objective of promoting the culture of reading and writing as well as access to information.

The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, is in the United States of America (USA) to participate at the Ubuntu Music and Arts of South Africa festival. The festival celebrates South Africa’s 20 Years of Freedom and Democracy and is scheduled to take place from 10 October to 05 November 2014.

The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) will unveil a series of paintings produced by 20 local artists as part of the 20 Years of Freedom celebrations. The exhibition, entitled Painting Democracy, will open on Saturday 11 October 2014 at the MACUFE (Mangaung Cultural Festival) in Bloemfontein.

The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) and the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation in collaboration with the Oral History Association of South Africa (OHASA) will host the 11th Annual National Oral History conference from 14 -17 October 2014 at Cedar Park Conference Centre in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

The theme for this year’s conference is,  Celebrating 20 years of democracy: “Oral History and the Politics of Transformation".
