The fourth annual Thuthuka Jewellery Exhibition will take place at the University of Johannesburg from the 12th – 26th October 2011.

Members of the media are invited to the Eastern Cape leg of the activation event for the “Magnificent Fridays” campaign.Magnificent Fridays campaign is an initiative of the Department of Sport and Recreation South Africa intended to galvanize the entire nation to stand behind their sports heroes and help them achieve their best in the respective international tournaments scheduled for 2011. The tournaments are for Cricket, Netball and Rugby. The tournaments for both Cricket and Rugby are World Cups while that of Netball is the World Championships.

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr. Paul Mashatile invites members of the media to an Inauguration of the Nelson Mandela Museum Council later today. Due processes were followed with public nominations being followed by a short-listing being done by a panel appointed by Minister Mashatile.  Minister will announce the appointments today.

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr. Paul Mashatile announced on 5 April 2011 that he will host a national Summit to discuss a draft strategy to reposition the arts, culture and heritage sector and its impact on job creation. The Summit will take place on 14-15 April 2011. Minister Mashatile said that the Summit should produce an agreed plan on how the sector will contribute to the job creation priority of government. Members of the media are invited to attend the conference.

Minister Paul Mashatile will inaugurate the National Arts Council on Tuesday 29th March 2011 at the Emperor’s Palace, Johannesburg.   The new Council will then be inducted thereafter.

The National Arts Council is an important funding body of the arts and disburses the funds provided by the Department of Arts and Culture.  Minister Mashatile congratulates all the members appointed to this Council. With their expertise and wealth of experience they will continue to promote the arts in this country.
