Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi in partnership with the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) will lead the unveiling and commemoration of Burial and Commemoration site of the first African woman to be banished by the apartheid regime, the late former regent chieftainess Mme Makwena Matlala in honour of her struggle against injustice and land dispossession under the apartheid regime.

Deputy Ministers of Small Business Development and Arts and Culture, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe and Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, invite members of the media to attend a “Women in Crafts Imbizo” and a site visit to Ms Agelina Masuku of Hlabisa in KwaZulu Natal.
 
The visit forms part of the Women’s Month Celebration by the Department of Small Business Development in partnership with the Department of Arts and Culture and the Hlabisa Local Municipality.

Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Nathi Mthethwa, invites members of the media to the launch of 2015 Heritage Month and the Living Legends Legacy Project under the theme, “Our indigenous knowledge, our heritage: Towards the identification, promotion and preservation of South African’s living heritage.” The launch will take place on Tuesday, 25 August 2015 at Cedar Woods Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg.
 
Minister Mthethwa will present the Living Legends Legacy Programme and Heritage Month programme.

The Department of Arts and Culture invites members of the media to the Pre-Conference Meeting of African Minister of Culture and the opening of the 81st General Conference of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) on 14 and 16 August 2015 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTIC) respectively. The 2015 IFLA Conference will be held from 15-21 August 2015 in Cape Town under the theme “Dynamic Libraries: Access, Development and Transformation,” in Cape Town.

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, will perform community service as part of the Mandela Month activities, on Monday 27 July 2015, at the National Library of South Africa (NLSA).
 
The Deputy Minister worked as a librarian for 29 years at the University of Limpopo (Turfloop). It is for this reason that she decided to perform community service as a librarian at the National Library of South Africa in honour of Tata Mandela.

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa will deliver a lecture on “South Africa of Mandela’ dream and memorialisation of our heritage” as part of a series of lectures to commemorate the Freedom Charter on Friday, 17 July 2015 at the Nelson Mandela Youth Heritage Centre in Qunu. The lecture will highlight the type of South Africa that Nelson Mandela and his contemporaries dreamt of as well as  the importance of the international Nelson Mandela Day. Nelson Mandela Day will be used to encourage individuals and communities to promote unity, solidarity and caring for one another.
