The Department of Arts & Culture invites media to the Public Lecture and colloquium featuring the internationally renowned author, Ben Okri (OBE).
The Institute for African Renaissance Studies at the University of South Africa (Unisa) in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) will host this event as part of various activities for the celebration of Africa Month under the theme “We are Africa”, ‘Opening the doors of learning and culture from Cape to Cairo”.
Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, will embark on Craft Imbizo, flag hoisting and official opening of the Umjindini Public Library from 8 to 9 April 2015, in Barberton, Mpumalanga.
The Minister of Arts & Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa invites media to the launch of African Month on 1 April 2015. The Department of Arts & Culture will host Africa Month in partnership with other government departments; public entities; private and civic sectors.
The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa will convene a Social Cohesion Report-Back Summit to afford the nation a platform to review progress on the implementation of the July 2012 National Social Cohesion Summit resolutions. The Summit will be held on Monday, 30 March 2015 at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape Province.
Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, will launch the Mzansi Libraries Online Pilot Project at Mapoteng Public Library, Gamagara Local Municipality on 26 March 2015.
Media covering the reburial of JB Marks are advised to collect their accreditations from 12h00 on Friday 2015 until 17h00 and on Saturday from 08h30 until 20h30 at the Ventersdorp Municipal Offices next to the Ventersdorp Library.
The funeral programme starts at 09h00 on Sunday, 22 March 2015.

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, will launch the Mzansi Libraries Online Pilot Project at Kwa-Ndwalane Public Library, Port Shepstone on 17 March 2015. The event is part of the South African Library Week campaign which is aimed at popularising the importance of reading and writing in human development.
The Minister of Arts & Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa and the Chinese Minister of Arts and Culture will have a meeting to sign a bilateral agreement on Arts, Culture and Heritage.
This follows a special opening concert to launch the 2015 Year of China in South Africa at the State Theatre in Pretoria today.
Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Rejoice Mabudafhasi will open the 2015 Cape Town Carnival on Saturday, 14 March 2015 at Green Point in Cape Town. This years’ Cape Carnival will be celebrated under theme: “Elemental: Celebrating fire, water, air, earth - the unstoppable forces that shape us and our environment”.
