Last year we gathered at this venue to inaugurate the revision of existing White Paper to ensure transformation of arts, culture and heritage sector in order to realize our constitutional mandate of forging a socially cohesive society.

The output of these intense consultations with artists from all arts disciplines, culture and heritage stakeholders led by our esteemed Reference Panel was the 2nd draft of the Revised White Paper on Arts, Culture and Heritage.

Tshwane School of Music like many other Community Arts Centres operates under very difficult conditions and resources are always insufficient for them to fully discharge their role in communities.

“The financial support forms part of the Department of Arts and Culture’s commitment to support and enhance programmes in Community Arts Centres in the current MTSF. We understand that programming and efficient Management of Community Arts Centres is key to the sustainability of these facilities,” said Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi.

The South Africa-Russia seasons taking place in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria on 11, 13,14 November 2016,respectively will showcase the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra. The Orchestra Osipov Balalaika is expected to take the audience through a temperate emotional journey and mystery. The second leg of  Russia-South Africa Seasons will also be held this year.

Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi will host Craft Imbizo with Crafters and Craft Stakeholders on 15 November 2016 at Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga.

The Honourable MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation in Mpumalanga Province, Ms Norah Mahlangu will join the Deputy Minister on this occasion.

This Imbizo seeks to strengthen government’s efforts in the implementation of the Programme of Action as well as government’s monitoring and evaluation system.

President Jacob Zuma will tomorrow, 27 October 2016, lead the wreath-laying ceremony in memory of the late ANC President Oliver Reginald Tambo in Wattville, Benoni.

Annually during the month of October, the City of Ekurhuleni leads a month-long programme of activities in commemoration of the life of Mr Oliver Reginald Tambo and his wife Dr Adelaide Tambo. Themed “Celebrating the life, times and legacy of O.R Tambo, 99 years and counting towards the centenary” this year’s celebrations would have coincided with the stalwart’s 99th birthday.
