The South African High Court has ruled in favour of Minister Nathi Mthethwa for dissolving the board of the Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) on 12 January 2016. Minister Mthethwa dissolved the board for a number of reason, including that there was no common understanding between the department and the board as to what the strategic role of the board should be.
Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Nathi Mthethwa will conduct an imbizo in Filikisi, eManzimtoti this Friday, 18 August 2018, as part of the department’s efforts to strengthen the implementation of its arts, culture and heritage programmes.
The imbizo will provide a platform for the community especially the youth to engage with the department on opportunities available in the creative sector.

Arts and Culture Minister, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa will on Thursday, 13 July 2017 launch the Debut Fund Programme for emerging artists at Nangoza Jebe Community Hall in Port Elizabeth. The Fund seeks to strengthen knowledge and skills development for young artists and also give them opportunities to apply for funding to further support their ventures. The Programme is a partnership between the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) and the Business Association of South Africa (BASA).
The Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) in partnership with the Department of Arts and Culture will host an imbizo on Anti Femicide to confront the callous murder of women and girls. The event takes place on Friday 23 June 2017 at Regina Mundi Catholic Church in Soweto under theme, “Respect Human Dignity and Equality” to promote ethical and moral values, irrespective of social origin, gender, race, age, status and class.
