The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Minister, Nathi Mthethwa, in collaboration with the Northern Cape Provincial Government, invites members of the media to the opening and official handover of the Northern Cape Theatre as part of the Department’s Economic Recovery and Reconstruction Plan. The occasion will take place on Wednesday, 15 December 2021 in Kimberly, Northern Cape Province.

Accompanied by the Northern Cape Premier, Dr Zamani Saul and the Provincial MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms Desery Fienies, Minister Mthethwa will also unveil the plaque.

The Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. David Mabuza in collaboration with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Minister Nathi Mthethwa invites members of the media to the Western Cape (WC) Return to Play – “It’s in your hands” social mobilization vaccination campaign tour. The purpose of the vaccination campaign tour is to urge creatives and sporting industry practitioners to vaccinate, and to voluntarily drive community vaccinations with the aim of unlocking the creative and sporting economy.

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Ms. Nocawe Mafu will on Friday, 26 November 2021 lead the Golekane Men and Women in Conversation Conference to intensify the fight against GBVF at the Freedom Park & Museum, Pretoria.

The conference will be held under the theme, “Uncovering workable GBVF solutions for an effective social response”, as part of Golekane, a 365 Gender Based Violence & Femicide (GBVF) awareness campaign.

During this session, an exciting panel of experts will share with the South African audiences their insights on how to move from being focused on goals but rather to develop positive habits towards long life wellness healthy lifestyle.

Deputy President David Mabuza will on Friday, 12 November 2021 lead the “Return to Play: It is in Your Hands” vaccination social mobilisation campaign. The campaign by the Department of Sport Arts and Culture is aimed at getting more people vaccinated so that the concerts, festivals, and sporting events can open up and welcome audiences and spectators.

Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture, Nathi Mthethwa MP, will receive an update report from the Ministerial Advisory Team (MAT) about interventions made to deal with the plight faced by creatives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MAT is an advisory body of organizations in the arts and creative sector established on 09th March 2021 following interactions with the Minister on how best to respond to the impact of Covid-19 on the creative sector.
