The Department of Arts and Culture strives to offer bursaries to undergraduate and postgraduate students in order to build capacity and enhance skills development in language practice which involves training in the following disciplines:
In doing so, the DAC offers the Bursary to universities based on their competency to administer the fund which is determined by the strength of their programmes, staff capacity and affordability. The individual applicants for the bursary do not deal with the DAC. They apply directly to the universities that receive the bursary. Based on their own standards of admission, the universities then award the bursary to deserving students. In this cycle, universities involved are the following:
1. University of Zululand
2. University of Limpopo
3. University of Johannesburg
4. University of South Africa (UNISA)
5. Walter Sisulu University
Interested individuals are therefore encouraged to submit their applications directly to the universities listed above.
However, by offering this bursary, the DAC seeks not to offer jobs to graduates but to prepare them for the language industry in general.
Enquiries regarding the bursary should be directed to Mr Sipho L Manganyi at: Tel: (012) 441 3846; Cell: 082 934 0655; Email: sipho.manganyi@dac.gov.za
