All ready to celebrate Nelson Mandela Sport and Culture Day

The Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with the Department of Sport and Recreation calls on all South Africans to take part in the Nelson Mandela Sport and Culture Day which will be held on Saturday, 22 November 2014 at the Union Buildings, Pretoria

The event is part of the campaign: UNITE 2.0: One Man, One Nation, One Celebration in honour of the late former President Nelson Mandela’s unwavering commitment to justice, equality, non-racialism, nation building and Social Cohesion. The 2014 program will include athletics, road, running, walking and cycling. A concert will be held on the Southern Lawns of the Union Buildings on 22 November 2014 after the races.

The following streets will be closed due to the preparations for this event:

1.    Road closures:  22 November – Corner of Stanza Bopape and Wessels and corner of Stanza Bopape and Johan streets.  This road closure will come into effect at 03:00 am.

2.    Road closures: 21 November – Leyds street and Zeederberg street close to Stanza Bopape street.  This road closure will be from 09:00 – 15:00.

3.    Full road closures:  22 November – Government street, madiba street, Leyds street, Tom Jenkins street, Stanza Bopape street.

Media Accreditation:

Media can collect their accreditation at 481 Kingsley centre, Corner Stanza Bopape and Steve Biko Street, Arcadia from November 20 - 22 November 2014 between 09h00 and 17h00.
