The Department of Arts and Culture has once more collaborated with the Field Band Foundation to bring thirteen South African top performance field bands each with between 60 and 120 members. Each will put on a long-rehearsed display of closely choreographed music, dance and band movement.

The event is scheduled to open at 09:00 by Parys Mayor Cllr MJ Mochela, National Department of Arts & Culture Deputy Director-General Ms Kelebogile Sethibelo and Field Band Foundation CEO Nicky du Plessis.

Founded in 1997, the Foundation uses the global performance band concept to bring focussed life-skills training to young people in areas of disadvantaged South Africa. Currently it has more than 6 700 active members in 48 bands across SA and receives significant corporate support as well as state support from the Department of Arts & Culture.

The 2016 Field Band Foundation national youth celebration promises a morning of superb family entertainment with live instrumental music and members of the public are invited to attend at no cost.
