Arts and Culture supports the Moshito Music Conference & Exhibition

The Department of Arts and Culture supports the Moshito Music Conference and Exhibition that will take place from 5-7 September 2014 at Auckland Park SABC Campus in Johannesburg. The prestigious music market, Moshito Music Conference and Exhibition works in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture as well as other partners and organisations in the music industry to enhance the role of the industry in economic development, job creation, poverty alleviation and socio-cultural development.
This year, the Moshito Conference marks its eleventh edition and has become one of the leading sources of information and engagement for the music industry in South Africa. Moshito has established itself as a platform where diverse music industry players share insights, network and tackle various issues varying from piracy to intellectual property. It also benefits local music practitioners through tapping into the expertise of some of the world’s most successful stakeholders in the industry.
The conference will commence with an Opening Concert on Thursday evening, 04 September 2014, followed by the Official Opening Ceremony on Friday morning 05 September 2014. The conference programme also includes a live music showcase for up and coming musicians. In strengthening Intra-African Cooperation and Trade, delegates will enjoy a Congo Day on Friday, which will showcase music performances and cultures of the people from the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville).
The Department of Arts and Culture supports this conference as part of its Mzansi Golden Economy strategy which promotes job creation and seeks to increase the contribution of arts and culture to sustainable economic development.
