CANCELLED: Minister Nathi Mthethwa to speak at the Twenty in 20 Short Story Winners Announcement

The Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with Times Media will host a special ceremony in Rosebank on Tuesday, 22 July 2014, to officially announce the winners of twenty most outstanding short stories of our democracy. The Minister of Arts and Culture Mr Nathi Mthethwa will give a keynote address.
The aim of this project was to put together stories that have been told by South African writers through the medium of literature. It was further aimed at ensuring that all sectors of society are part of the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Freedom and Democracy.
The public were granted an opportunity to nominate stories that they regard as the most outstanding in the first two decades of our democracy. The project was founded on an interactive, online campaign designed and driven by Books LIVE, which determined the criteria for the winning stories. Over 200 entries were received, after which the list was narrowed down to fifty.
