Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi to officiate the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children in Diepsloot

The Deputy Minister of Department of Arts and Culture, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, invites members of the media to the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children event on Wednesday, 10 December 2014 at Diepsloot Youth Centre, Johannesburg.

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign, is an on-going global campaign taking place between the 25 November and 10 December 2014. The 2014 campaign is held under the theme: Count Me In: Together Moving A Non-Violence South Africa Forward. The theme of this year’s campaign emphasises a collective approach for every individual to take part in moving a non-violent South Africa forward. This is aimed at encouraging a greater participation of men in an effort to prevent violence against women and children.

This event will also mark the end of the UNiTE Film Festival and Workshop programme which encourages community conversation on gender based violence to mobilise individuals, groups and the community towards action that will contribute to nation building, healing and social cohesion.

The film and workshop programme took place in Mthatha and Alexandra between 29 November and 06 December in Eastern Cape and Johannesburg, respectively.
