Deputy President David Mabuza to lead the Vaccination Social Mobilisation Campaign in Cape Town, Western Cape

The Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. David Mabuza in collaboration with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Minister Nathi Mthethwa invites members of the media to the Western Cape (WC) Return to Play – “It’s in your hands” social mobilization vaccination campaign tour. The purpose of the vaccination campaign tour is to urge creatives and sporting industry practitioners to vaccinate, and to voluntarily drive community vaccinations with the aim of unlocking the creative and sporting economy.

This initiative is linked with the overall Government strategy that speaks to economic recovery and reconstruction as well as the protection of lives and livelihoods. The upcoming Western Cape Province mobilization tour forms part of a broader vaccination campaign launched on the 8th of September 2021 by the Deputy President, David Mabuza with its overall national rollout led by Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Mr. Nathi Mthethwa.

The Western Cape (WC) return to play ‘It’s in your hands’ vaccination event will once more be led by the Deputy President David Mabuza who will be supported by Minister Nathi Mthethwa and the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Sibongiseni Dhlomo.

The campaign will further be endorsed by the Premier of the Western Cape, Mr. Alan Winde; Western Cape MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sports, Ms. Anroux Marais; and the Western Cape MEC of Health, Ms. Nomafrench Mbombo, among others.

Members of the media are invited as follows:  

Date: Monday, 13th December 2021

Venue: Athlone Stadium (Cape Town)   

Time: 10H00 – 13H30

 

Members of the media are once more invited to join Government in its initiative of creating awareness and eradicating vaccination stigma.
