The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) together with the North West Provincial Government invite you to a ceremony to hand over a house and conduct an imbizo under theme: “Creating Opportunities For Better Life”. The Director-General of Arts and Culture, Mr. Sibusiso Xaba and Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC), Hon. Tebogo Modise will hand-over a newly built house to Mabe family on the 12th of September 2013 at Ikageleng Township in Zeerust, North-West. This is part of government’s commitment to improve the lives of all South Africans and create a caring society.

In July 2012, as part of the Nelson Mandela Day activities, Minister Mashatile together with the MEC, Modise visited one of disadvantaged households, the Mabe family based at Ikageleng Township. The visit discovered that the household was inhabited by unemployed young people and it was not was not suitable for human settlement. Both Minister Mashatile and MEC Modise committed to assist the family to get a new house.

A new house has been built through the partnership between government and a private contractor. This achievement is a testimony of how working together can create a caring society that is committed to restore the dignity of all South Africans. As the custodian of social cohesion and nation building, the Department of Arts and Culture will furnish the house.

Minister Mashatile will also lead an inter-departmental imbizo. This will provide a platform for face-to-face interaction between the political principals and the communities. Members of the media are invited to attend.
