MEC Pemmy Majodina will host Minister Nathi Mthethwa



The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa and the Eastern Cape MEC for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Dr Pemmy Majodina invite media to a ceremony to commemorate the 1960 Ngquza Hill Massacre. The Premier of the Eastern Cape, Mr Phumulo Masualle will also attend the event.
These dignitaries will be part of the masses that will gather at the Ngquza Hill where, in 1960, AmaMpondo people were killed by apartheid police while protesting against the unjust laws of the time and had planned to gather at the foot of that hill to strategise and mobilise. Eleven of the protesters were killed and buried on the spot whilst 23 were sentenced to death and ultimately executed and buried at Mamelodi Cemetery. They were subsequently exhumed and repatriated to Mbizana and Ngquza Hill.
Minister Mthethwa will give keynote on 6 June 2014.
