The Department of Arts and Culture is proud to have made a contribution, both creatively and through human and financial resources to make sure that the LOC and CAF stage Opening and Closing ceremonies on South African soil that reflect both the soul and character of the nation and that of our beautiful continent as a whole, thus making us proud as African people.

The Minsiter of Arts and Culture, Mr Paul Mashatile said as the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC), we are proud to be associated with this football extravaganza since its contribution has not only been restricted to the football pitches but is assisting in moving forward our on-going project of building unity, fostering social cohesion and promoting human solidarity forward and internalisation.

“Football fans are celebrating Africa’s unity in its diversity and this can only augur well for realising the African Renaissance”, added Mashatile.
The ceremony will offer an arts extravaganza that features diverse musical expressions by Mafikizolo,   Professor,   Uhuru,   Busiswa,   Dj Zinhle, DJ Reddy D and Chad Saaiman. The Department remains committed through Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE), to develop and promote creative industries as major contributors towards job creation, social cohesion and nation building.

As we mobilise society towards 20 Years of Freedom and Democracy in South Africa, Let us sustain the spirit of unity as Africans work together to advance their economies and societies, nurture African culture and build a better life for all.
