Minister Mthethwa and Members of the Executive Council (MECs) stand together and engage on Social Cohesion in South Africa today as a central thrust of the arts and culture programme

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa invites members of the media to a briefing session on a meeting to be held by the Minister and MEC’s within the Arts and Culture Portfolio on Thursday, 29 January 2015 in Freedom Park, Pretoria.

The meeting seeks to find a government wide integrated approach and alignment on nation building and social cohesion.  The discussion will also include national days, the Mzansi Golden Economy Strategy (MGE), the schools and libraries programme.

“As government departments we are tasked with nation building and social cohesion, it is therefore important for national and provincial government to stand together to address the challenges afflicting our society at present which prevent us from being a truly socially cohesive nation,” says Minister Mthethwa.
