Minister Mthethwa to brief Ambassadors and representatives of Africa on Africa Month Programme

Since 2015 the Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with other government departments and institutions has held an extensive Africa Month programme focusing on different activities including dialogues and discussions, dance, music, literature, film, fine art and cuisine featuring participants from South Africa, the rest of Africa and the African Diaspora.

The brief  of the 2017 programme is scheduled to take place tomorrow at Manhattan Hotel, Pretoria at 17:30pm.

The Month of May is recognised as Africa Month, to celebrate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963, it was on this date that the 25 May was declared as Africa Day as a symbol of unity amongst all Africans.

This year 2017, the month will be celebrated under the theme, “Building a Better Africa and a Better World.” to promote African unity and regional integration.
