The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Minister, Nathi Mthethwa will deliver keynote address on Thursday,16 December 2021 during the National Day of Reconciliation celebration at Cillie Sports Ground, in Kakamas outside Upington in the Northern Cape Province.

On this day, the nation will celebrate Reconciliation Day to continue our drive to foster greater unity and nation building. This day continues to be of great significance given our socio-historical background, and continuing divisions based on race, gender inequality, ethnicity, language, culture, and economic segregation.

The 2021 Reconciliation Day is celebrated under the month-long theme: “The year of Charlotte Maxeke: Promoting Reconciliation During the 25th Anniversary of the Constitution”.

Each year we have an opportunity to reach out to one another to deal with our past, reconcile and build a new nation. Moreover, we must stand together to fight social ills facing our country such as Gender Based Violence and Femicide. We must also do more to ensure that that COVID-19 pandemic does not further entrench divisions.

NB: - In adherence to COVID regulations, ONLY a limited number of media & the publics will be able to attend the event.

Other members of the public can also follow the celebrations live on Government social media platform below
