This year’s Africa Month celebrations focuses on: The Year of OR Tambo: Unity in Action.

Given the lingering legacy of colonialism and apartheid, it is opportune that in honour of the contribution of ANC President and stalwart, Cde OR Tambo, this year’s Africa Month is dedicated to him.

President OR Tambo furthermore would speak up for all liberation movements and not only South Africa, as the movement for decolonization has been a world movement for change with internationalism being key to overcoming colonial and neocolonial rule and achieving economic emancipation.

“It is fitting that we focus on Cde OR Tambo in Africa Month. In speaking about this great revolutionary and statesman of our continent, we cannot mention or speak about him outside other great statesmen from the continent. The strength of these leaders has always been to be truthful to the people  and to find better ways of improving their work and standing as leaders in their countries and the continent,” says Minister Nathi Mthethwa.

Media are invited to attend the keynote lecture by Minister Mthethwa, as follows:

Date   : 20 May 2017

Venue: Oasis Hotel – Mokopane (01 Thabo Mbeki Street, Mokopane)
