South Africa to celebrate Freedom Day

South Africa will celebrate Freedom Day on the 27 April 2014 at the Union Buildings, Pretoria under the theme: “South Africa – A Better Place to live in”. This year’s Freedom Day marks 20 years of Freedom and Democracy celebrations. On this day in 1994, South Africans of all races cast their votes in the first ever democratic election, giving birth to our freedom and constitutional democracy. South Africa has since transformed; we are a people united by our love for our country and our common goal of working towards a better life for all. We celebrate the change that was brought by a people united to attain freedom.
