The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa invites members of the media to the launch of Heritage Month that will be held on Monday, 01 September 2014 at Freedom Park, Pretoria.  The theme for this year’s Heritage Month is “Celebrating 20 Years of Democracy: Tell your story that moves South Africa Forward!

The theme encourages South Africans to tell their stories as part of celebrating 20 years of democracy. South Africa is a country with a great story to tell, a story of struggle and victory and a commitment to work together to foster nation building and social cohesion.

This year’s Heritage Month will present an opportunity to reconnect the nation with our rich heritage through oral history narrations, exhibitions, poetry, music and dance as a tool to reinforce our collective memory and promote national identity.  Guests attending the launch will be welcomed by a story-telling session, food tasting, drumming and poetry before they are led into the venue for the launch.
