On 13 March 2020, the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture met with the sectors to discuss challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of these consultations was to share vital information on the status of the Coronavirus in South Africa and to assess its adverse consequences, with a view to develop mitigation strategies thereof.
Department of Sport, Arts and Culture is committed to providing the South African public and the world at large with services that they require. To continue to offer access to the unique resources needed by the public the department has decided to re-open some of the much needed services to the public, that of the archival services.

The recent decision of the Swiss Federal Court to uphold a decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the IAAF (World Athletics) Regulations on Female Athletes with Differences of Sexual Development (DSD) is very unfortunate and offensive to the fundamental human rights of female athletes classified hyperandrogenic.
On 17, August 2020 Minister Sport, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa, announced 2nd Wave COVID–19 Relief application process as a form of assistance to artists, athletes, technical personnel, fitness instructors / practitioners and the core ecosystem with the objective of softening the economic impact sparked by the COVID–19 Pandemic.

This Saturday 29 August, sparks will fly as 2020 Tour de France kicks-off. The event will take place in Nice, France, where participants will cycle 3470 kilometre over 21 days.
