The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has learned with shock of the untimely passing of former Mamelodi Sundowns footballer and Amazulu Football club defender, Mr Anele Ngcongca
The Department has learned with great sadness and sorrow that Nomasonto “Mshoza” Maswanganyi is no more. Her death was confirmed by her manager Thandoxulo Jindela and reported that, she passed away in the early hours of the morning, 19 November 2020 after a long illness.
It is with sadness, shock and a heavy heart that we heard of the passing of popular Umhlobo Wenene fm Sports Presenter, Sithembiso Ngqezana, popularly known as STHERA who succumbed to Covid-19.
Today, I sent a letter to the Acting President of Cricket South Africa (CSA), Mr Rihan Richards. I copied the Chairperson of the Interim Board as well as the Acting CEO of CSA and the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture joins the rugby fraternity in mourning the passing of former SA Rugby President Mr Silas Nkanunu, who made history when he succeeded the late Louis Luyt as the organisation’s leader in the late 1990’s. He was the first black President of the South African Rugby Union (SARU). Mr Nkanunu was a Human Rights Lawyer who also served as Chairman of Sanzaar and briefly, Vice-Chairman of the International Rugby Board (IRB), now World Rugby.
