Minister Nathi Mthethwa is proud to announce that as of this day, 2 July 2018, South Africa is home to a new World Heritage Site. “Barberton Makhonjwa Mountains” has been inscribed on the prestigious World Heritage List by the 42nd UNESCO World Heritage Committee, currently underway in Bahrain since 24 June under the chair of HE Shaikha Haya Bint Rashed al-Khalifa of Bahrain

The Minister of Arts and Culture, HE Mr Nathi Mthethwa visited Angola on the invitation of counterpart, HE Mrs Carolina Cerqueira.

The purpose of the meeting was to follow up on commitments made in the “Agreement of Cooperation” (PoC) in the field of “Arts and Culture and Programme of Cooperation”. The Ministers agreed to fast track the implementation of the Agreement and recommend the renewal of the PoC.

During the visit, the two Ministers visited several sites of historical importance to both countries in Luanda and Cuando Cubango Provinces. Together with the areas incorporated in the PoC, the Ministers agreed to prioritize the following:

Minister Nathi Mthethwa will on Friday, 26 January 2018 pay a special visit to Embabe Primary School, KwaMbonambi in Richards Bay as part of the Government’s Back to School campaign. During the visit, Minister Mthethwa will donate school uniforms including bag packs to over 350 underprivileged learners form 7 schools in KwaMbonambi.
