Message of condolences by the Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Lulu Xingwana MP, on the sudden passing away of actress Fiona Coyne in Cape Town

19 Aug 2010

We are all shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden passing away of the well-known actress Fiona Coyne. She became popular when she hosted “The Weakest Link”. She was known for her biting wit on that show which alarmed many contestants.

She was a member of Capab Drama Company. She wrote many plays and a book titled “Who moved my Ladder” – a working woman’s guide to success. She also served on the Theatre Advisory Panel for the National Arts Council which I appreciated.

She was a conservation activist on both flora and fauna. South Africa has lost a highly talented and experienced all-rounder. Our sincerest condolences to her husband, family and friends.  May her legacy live on!
