As part of government’s Public Participation Programme (Imbizo), the Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Dr Joe Phaahla in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Rural Development, Social Development and Trade and Industry will visit the community of Bonnievale in Langerberg municipality, Western Cape.
The decision to meet with the community comes after several visits by the Deputy Minister Phaahla to the Langerberg Municipality. During these visits, he identified challenges such as unemployment, different forms of abuse, farm evictions and poor treatment of farmworkers.
It is against this background that a Public Participation Programme was scheduled to in an attempt to find ways in which government can work with the community to address the challenges face. The event will also afford the community a platform to engage with relevant departments in line with the principle of comprehensive and multi-dimensional approach to challenges facing the Bonnievale community. Members of the media are invited to attend the event.
