FIELD BAND FOUNDATION EVENT

On 8 October the Director-General, Mr Sibusiso Xaba, officially opened the National Field Band Championships held at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. This event coincided with the 10th anniversary of the partnership between the Field Band Foundation and the Norwegian Federation Band. The DAC supported the National Championships because it dovetails with the departmental strategy on Youth Development. The Field Band Foundation becomes one of the strategic partners with the DAC in realising its goals for job creation, social cohesion and ultimately in mainstreaming the arts, culture and heritage amoong the youth towards socio-economic opportunities within the objectives of the MGE.
