Call for nominations for members to serve on the Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB)
The Pan South Africa Language Board (PanSALB) (“The Board”) was established in terms of the Pan South African Language Board Act, 1995 (Act No. 59 of 1995) (“The Act”), to monitor and evaluate the implementation of multilingualism and promote and develop previously marginalised languages
The Minister of Arts and Culture, in accordance with section 5(3)(a) of the Act, hereby calls on members of the language fraternity and the general public to nominate persons to serve as members of the board.
Nominees should be South African citizens, have a broad understanding of and experience in the ﬁeld of language, be broadly representative of the diversity of the users of ofﬁcial languages, and have linguistic knowledge. Nominations of persons with legal expertise, expertise in ﬁnancial management or corporate governance, or in any other matter will allow the Board to fulﬁll its obligations are also encouraged.
Anyone wishing to nominate persons to serve on the Board should submit the following documents to the
Department of Arts and Culture (contact details below):
- A letter containing the full names, addresses and telephone numbers of the nominator and the nominee, stating the reasons for nomination;
- A recently updates Curriculum Vitae of the nominee, certiﬁed copies of qualiﬁcations including the names and contact details of three referees and;
- A brief statement, signed by the nominee, explaining his/her suitability for appointment
