President Jacob Zuma will unveil the new bridge connecting Ncome Museum and Blood River Monument at the 2014 Day of Reconciliation commemoration event. The theme for this year’s commemoration is “Social Cohesion, Reconciliation and National Unity in the 20 years of Democracy”. The event will take place on Tuesday, 16 December 2014 at Ncome Museum, near Dundee in the UMzinyathi District Municipality, KwaZulu Natal.

The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) will host the Reconciliation and Transformation Dialogue on Friday, 12 December 2014 at Msunduzi Museum in Pietermaritzburg. The event will be celebrated under the theme, “20 years into Democracy, Reconciliation and Transformation – Are we there yet? “ In line with the National Development Plan, Vision 2030, Chapter 15, there is a call to craft a social contract(s) that will enable South Africa to achieve harmony across race and class, higher growth and employment, increase investment and savings.

The Department of Arts and Culture invites media to a Ministerial Imbizo and a gala dinner to consult and honour veterans in the arts for their role in the development of the country. The Imbizo will be held on Wednesday, 10th December and the Gala Dinner on Thursday, 11 December 2014. The gala dinner will be hosted and addressed by President Jacob Zuma. Also, artists will be awarded certificates of recognition for their role and contribution.

The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, in partnership with the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), the Modjadji Royal house, the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and the KARA Institute will  unveil the Modjadji Dynasty Memorial on Friday, 05 December 2014 at Greater Letaba Local Municipality, Ga-Modjadji, Setlhakone village in Limpopo Province.

The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) will host the UNiTE Film Festival and Workshop programme on Friday, 28 November and Saturday, 06 November 2014 at Ngangelizwe Y-Centre in Umtata, Eastern Cape, and Alexandra Township, Johannesburg respectively. The event is part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign, an on-going global campaign taking place between the 25 November and 10 December 2014.

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa, will give a keynote address at the Chief Albert Luthuli Memorial Symposium hosted under the theme “Let My People Go: Celebrating Chief Albert Luthuli in the Foundations of our 20 Years of Freedom and Democracy”. The event will take place on Saturday, 29 November 2014 at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Westville Campus in Durban.

Mme Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, the Deputy Arts and Culture Minister, will officiate the 1st Limpopo Media and Communicators Awards on Thursday, 27 November 2014, at Peter Mokaba stadium, in Polokwane, Limpopo.

Premier of Limpopo, Mr Stan Mathabatha and MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Mme Nandi Ndalane are also expected to attend the awards ceremony.
