Members of the press are hereby advised that Minister Nathi Mthethwa will attend and deliver the keynote address at the wreath laying ceremony of the late, great hero of the liberation struggle Chris Hani on Wednesday- the 26th anniversary of this brave patriot’s assassination. The ceremony will be held under the theme: “Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Chris Hani”.
Members of the press are hereby advised that the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) in partnership with Reggae and Rastafari community will be hosting a Reggae Imbizo to infuse Reggae’s voices and faces into promotion of social cohesion, nation building & community conversation. This Indaba also forms part of events building up to Human Rights Day.

Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture Ms Makhotso Maggie Sotyu will host a crafters’ imbizo. The Imbizo is a follow up of a previous engagement the Deputy Minister held on the 9th March 2018 with the community of Mofulatshepe and surrounding villages. During the first Imbizo there were requests from various local cooperatives of women in the arts sector for sewing machines and other material. The Deputy Minister will be delivering on some of the requests made in the last Imbizo. Members of the Media are invited as follows:

The Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Nathi Mthethwa hosts a delegation of BRICS Ministers of Culture to provide a strategic leadership and guidance on how governments can best strengthen collaborations amongst member states, market access, and to promote cultural diplomacy for a broader Government socio-economic agenda. The event forms part of the 10th BRICS Summit recently hosted under the theme, ‘’ BRICS in Africa: Collaboration for Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity in the 4th Industrial Revolution”.
Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with Novalis Ubuntu Institute will host a Social Cohesion Intergenerational Dialogue in contribution towards Nelson Mandela & Mama Albertina Sisulu Centenary Year, which will take place on the 25th-26th October 2018. The Social Cohesion Dialogue will foster unity and cohesion through the unique way to share stories and dialogue to birth a new day.
The Minister of Arts and Culture Mr Nathi Mthethwa together with the Ambassadors of the Arab States invite members of the media to the Opening of the 2nd Arab Cultural Week that will take place on the 22 October 2018 at the State Theatre in Pretoria. The South African Government through the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) in collaboration with the council of Arab Ambassadors representing states and members of the Arab league will hold the 2nd Arab Cultural Week that will run from the (22 – 26 October 2018).
As the year 2018 completes the first decade of the BRICS Summit, the South African Government through the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) will host the Inaugural BRICS Fashion Show and Fashion Business Forum from 24 - 26 October 2018 at the Sandton City, Johannesburg in Gauteng during the South African Fashion Week (SAFW). The fashion showpiece forms part of the 10th BRICS Summit recently hosted under the theme, ‘’Collaboration for Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity in the 4th Industrial Revolution”.
The Minister of Arts and Culture Mr Nathi Mthethwa will hold an Imbizo with the community, practitioners in the arts, and culture and heritage sector at Nelspruit in Mpumalanga.
The imbizo aims at exposing the community, Youth and arts practitioners of Mbombela to the work of the Department of Arts, Culture and Heritage. The focus will be on the role of the creative industry in stimulating investment and job creation in Mpumalanga.
The Department of Arts and Culture, SA in collaboration with the South African Embassy, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Ghana will brief the media on upcoming SA Cultural Seasons at the Marriott Hotel, in Accra.
During the briefing, week-long programme of activities will be unveiled.
