Minister Mthethwa to launch Reconciliation Month through Racism and Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) Dialogue in Athlone, Cape Town

The Sport, Arts and Culture Minister, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa invites members of the media to the launch of Reconciliation Month on Wednesday, 02 December 2020 at Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone, Cape Town, Western Cape.

The 2020 Reconciliation Month will be launched under the theme, “United against racism and Gender Based Violence and other intolerances”. 

Given the real risk of dislocation and the human need for healing, the department will launch the month through the national dialogue on Racism, Reconciliation, and Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).

In the quest to bring more equitable society as envisioned in the NDP Vision 2030,  this dialogic platform will allow the panelists to engage and deliberate on issues of racism, GBVF and other social ills within the Athlone community, and the country at large as the nation also observes 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

Prior to the dialogue, Minister Mthethwa will also lead a 5KM walk in an effort to amplify Government’s stance on racism and GBVF matters. The walk will commence from Joseph Stone Auditorium to Trojan Horse then back to the auditorium.  

The Minister will outline calendar of activities for the entire month during the launch
